    Description

    Please email with any questions. 3/4" long goldtone metal lapel pin from the mayoral campaign of "Machine Gun Ronnie" Thompson who was first elected Mayor of Macon, Georgia in 1967. Thompson had been a gospel singer and hose of a TV gospel music show in Georgia. In his 1967 run for mayor, he was supported by Otis Redding and Phil Walden of Capricorn Records. The "machine gun" nickname he was given was meant derisively but Thompson latched onto it and used it for his successful 1971 campaign. Some slight surface wear.
